History and Tradition:
The roots of todays’ Carlsberg Bulgaria date back to the remote 1882, when the Czech brew master Franz Milde arrived in the town of Shumen. In the same year, together with several men from the local industry, he set the beginning of one of the oldest breweries in Bulgaria - "Shumensko pivo".
The modern company is established in September 2004 when Carlsberg acquires two Bulgarian breweries - "Shumensko pivo" and "Pirinsko pivo". Both breweries are merged into one company becoming member of the big international family of Carlsberg.
Nowadays, Carlsberg Bulgaria is a strong player on the local beer market. The company is currently employing approx. 500 employees and operates with two breweries – in the towns of Shumen and Blagoevgrad.

The product portfolio of the company offers a variety of first-class beers: the well-known local players: "Shumensko" and "Pirinsko", as well as the international brands of Carlsberg Company - "Carlsberg", "Tuborg" and cider No1 in Bulgaria: “Somersby”. "Tuborg" and "Somersby" are locally produced, while "Carlsberg" is imported. The portfolio is expanded by several third party brands: the famous Czech beer "Budweiser Budvar", German wheat beer “Erdinger” and the Belgian abate beer “Grimbergen”.
